One boy and two perfect little ladies ...

When I first received an email from this gorgeous family inquiring about a session to photograph their little boy and their soon to be baby twin girls, my heart did a little dance. I haven’t yet had the opportunity to photograph twins so needless to say, I was a just bit excited to meet these beautiful bundles of cherubic goodness!

Add to the mix their big brother, complete with dark chocolate locks and a deep soulful gaze, this family was an absolute dream to photograph!

While the two little angels slept, little mister kept mum and dad busy with a concert performance and a feast cook up in the kitchen. A quick break for a tea party then back to business with story time and an attempt at bubble streams in gusty winds! Life with a toddler hey?!

Not long after, the girls awoke and it was all hands on deck. At just over 2 months old, these two sweethearts were so adorably engaging and just such a pleasure to be around. How mum and dad manage to keep so cool, calm and collected with three under three (and not much sleep!) baffles me completely. Ace job on all counts you guys!! Thankyou for letting me into your wonderfully busy and warmhearted world for just a few hours.

Leafy Utopia in Inner Melbourne

Have you ever imagined a home, nestled amongst towering leafy gums, with space to run for you and your little ones (and a hound plus a brood of chooks!), with fruit trees fresh for the picking, overlooking paddocks of galloping horses, and only a short drive from Melbourne’s inner city suburban buzz?

Doesn’t exist right?

Well, for this beautiful family of four it does and I was lucky enough to be asked to capture some memories for them in an in-home family photo session earlier this year.

This was nothing short of a dream shoot for me. In-home photo shoots hold a special place in my heart, for good reason. Children are almost always at ease at home, ready to play from the minute I arrive, sharing candid, often beautifully quirky moments that define the little humans they are.

Home is where families begin. Where you are understood and memories are created. It’s a feeling, not a place.

I can’t think of a better place to create these quite, personal, meaningful moments while documenting the essence of your family.

Sam, Drew, Mollie and Jack, thank-you for opening your home and hearts to me.

Much love,

Rustic charm in the Dandenongs

It has been a rather (*cough *cough, extremely!) long time since my last post and I don't have any particularly good reason except life must have gotten on top of me for the last few months (Christmas, Birthdays and Summer holidays may have also played a part)!

A strange six degrees of separation brought me to connect with Emma, and her genuinely welcoming crew of four.

In talking with Emma about where she would like to have her family session photos, she totally downplayed their house in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges. 'Country/rustic/cosy' was how she described it (said in a tone as if these were undesirable?!).  To me, these are all beautiful characteristics of a home, giving it it's charm, personality and heart! I have always loved this area of outer eastern-Melbourne, noted for its lush forest surrounds and hilly vistas and I couldn't wait to take the drive out east and take in the views along the way.

What I was met with on arrival was a sweeping timber verandah spanning their weatherboard home, stunning bay windows, and towering trees surrounding their property. I couldn't think of a more lovely place they could have chosen to raise their two exuberant little men!

I'm not sure if it is the fresh forest air they get to breathe in every day, but Emma, Liam, Cody, Flynn, and even their perfectly behaved pooch Lenny, could not have been a more enchantingly relaxed family to spend a couple of hours photographing!

Thankyou for opening the door to you home and letting me capture a tiny slice of your family!
